Universities store books that are out of main circulation in warehouses with boxes of books that go floor to ceiling. At the University of Alberta facility there were over 3 Million books housed and actively available for call.<\/p>\n<\/div>

The university was building a new facility the Manager was looking to increase the existing floor space by 150 Sq. M. Valueadd looked at the existing facility and immediately committed to reducing the footprint by 210 Sq. M. less than the existing facility.<\/p>\n<\/div>

The books picked at the facility are dispatched to 27 associate locations. These books get picked in the depository and moved to the despatch area to be sorted and packed for shipping. Analysing the volume of books being sorted to each location the layout was reworked to reduced the amount of movement in the dispatch area.<\/p>\n<\/div>
